Position Overview
Under general supervision, performs quality assurance support for the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) team specifically in the area of Software Quality Assurance (SQA). Typical job duties are routine and require use of standard techniques and procedures.
The position requires expertise in implementing Software Quality Assurance in accordance with the following requirements or standards:

General Position Duties
Responsible for planning and preparation of quality assurance documents and procedures, and assisting all levels of division or project personnel in quality related matters
Represent QA/QC at planning, review, or status meetings
Perform oversight of the Software Quality Assurance (SQA) program and support implementation of SQA requirements
Support software owners in grading SQA requirements based on risk, safety, facility life-cycle, and complexity
Identify project software quality requirements
Apply SQA requirements to software life-cycle phases
Evaluate procurement controls for acquisition of computer software and hardware that are provided with
supplier-developed software and/or firmware
Perform reviews of software configuration items, including reviewing the safety implications
Developing, evaluating, reviewing, or updating training for personnel who use and apply software in safety applications
Knowledge is based upon a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, principles, standard practices, techniques and methods applicable to quality assurance efforts
May perform surveillance and inspections in accordance to the applicable site or department procedure.
Provide the results of these assessments to line management
May inspect material and equipment for compliance to purchase order specification and applicable quality requirements
Responsible for planning and executing standard quality assurance techniques, standards, procedures and policies and being capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered
Assists in the preparation of project audit schedules, discipline activity plans for the QA function, and audit reports (internal and external), noting nonconformance and verifying effective corrective action
May assist project management in developing an orientation program to ensure project teams are familiar with the requirements of SQA policies and procedures
Serves as QA lead on small or medium sized execution projects as assigned
May perform surveillance, inspections and assessments in accordance to the applicable site or department procedure. Provide the results of these assessments to line management
Acts as an assessor or lead assessor and may follow up on assessment findings and corrective actions
Liaison with individuals and units within or outside division or project structures
Responsible for providing technical and administrative direction to non-exempt staff
Assists in the maintenance of project QA records for all phases of the project
Provides assigned administrative or functional support to the management team
Performs duties moderate to complex in nature
Other job related duties as assigned
Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner
Actively participates in Safety Work Groups
As a federal contractor, is required to follow Safer Federal Workforce Task Force guidance
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS degree in Computer Science preferred and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Typical experience ranges from 5-8 years.
Basic interpersonal/communication skills
Strongly proficient PC skills including Microsoft applications
Detail oriented
Working Conditions - Inside
Work in an office at a normal environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities or industrial field environments). May also work at off-project sites representing the organization at
various types of locations throughout the community for business purposes. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.
Ability to perform sedentary to light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person "buddy system"), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.
Ability to perform primary office duties including heavy computer usage.
In some cases radiological training may be required.

Work in an environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities). Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.
Ability to wear respirator and other protective equipment to enter various types of potentially hazardous areas (such as but not limited to chemical, dust fumes, mists, heat stress factors, etc.).
Ability to carry several instruments/equipment or tools while walking extensively. Potential prolonged walking/standing, repeated pushing/pulling.
Ability to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person "buddy system"), and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing,
pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.
Potential for prolonged driving of or riding in a motor vehicle, machine operation, and/or working around moving equipmenVmachinery or motorized vehicles (such as but not limited to car, truck, golf cart, gator, heavy equipment).
Ability to work in confined areas, tanks, heat stress conditions, high noise and areas with radiation and chemical hazards.
Environmental conditions may include weather or temperature extremes, inclement weather (such as but not limited to wind, rain, excessive heat, excessive cold, snow/ice, etc.)
In some cases radiological training may be required.
May be required to operate company vehicle during the course of work. All safety and DOT regulations and procedures must be adhered to at all times.
