Environmental Services Deputy Director

Position Overview

Provide direct support to the Environmental Services Director for execution of the responsibilities under the Environmental Services organization. This includes activities for Environmental Remediation, the Federal Facility Agreement, Special Environmental Projects, and Environmental Stewardship. Assist the Environmental Services Director in the planning and implementation of all aspects of the organization’s operational policies, objectives, and initiatives to meet Department of Energy (DOE) contract requirements and in a manner that is safe, cost effective and fully compliant with Four Rivers Nuclear Partnership procedures and all regulatory requirements.  The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:

                  

Ensures Environmental Services Programs properly flow down from relevant DOE orders and regulatory requirements, inclusive of ensuring Integrated Safety Management Systems principles are incorporated into all work activities

Responsible for ensuring compliance with Earned Value Management System for assigned work

Develops staffing plans and development plans for Environmental Services Personnel in alignment of OBS and Baseline

Perform (or oversee) Management Assessments to monitor the health of the Directorate

Provide review and concurrence on regulatory documents and contract deliverables that the Environmental Services Directorate has the responsibility to development and transmit to DOE and/or regulatory agencies

Provides interface with DOE, regulatory agencies and project staff regarding implementation of environmental regulatory requirements

Provides leadership and motivation to subordinate personnel

Maintains close working relationship with Directorate Management and/or operational management in ensuring Environmental Services activities are being properly executed and needs of the company are met

Act for the Environmental Services Director in his absence

Responsible for personnel actions and performance appraisals

Other job related duties as assigned

Complies with security and emergency action procedures

Provides assigned technical or functional support to team members

Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner.If supervising others, has responsibility for the safety of those being supervised and ensures they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits

Actively participates in Safety Councils and Working Groups

Minimum Requirements

BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 20 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 

Must possess a working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations and DOE Orders and requirements.

Experience at the DOE Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Must possess a DOE “Q” clearance or the ability to obtain a DOE “Q” Clearance

Working Conditions

Work primarily office based but may require some work in an environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities).  Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.

Ability to perform light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy system”), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.

Ability to wear respirator and other protective equipment to enter various types of potentially hazardous areas (such as but not limited to chemical, dust fumes, mists, heat stress factors, etc.).

In some cases radiological training may be required.

May be required to operate company vehicle during the course of work. All safety and DOT regulations and procedures must be adhered to at all times.
